Musings - Ugly/Pretty in Society

Hey. One thing I'm quickly going to warn you about for this post: this isn't very much about something that happened. It's just some thoughts that are going through my head because of certain things that happened today. So if you don't really give a damn, that's fine :) I won't begrudge you for it or anything.

Alright, now that that's sorted out, let me relate the events that have led up to this train of thought.
Today I was attacked by eyeshadow and mascara-wielding girly friends and sisters of friends (comment if you want pics). After this, Lauren, who is a bit stuck-up (I'm sure we all know the type. This is the friend who's always talking about how many guys want her and how pretty she is and all), who tends to compliment me on my looks, was basically ignored because I very rarely wear any makeup, and apparently I looked wonderful. Because of this (I'm guessing), she started telling me that I looked horrible and that my eyelashes looked too long and spidery. (I'm hoping they didn't, as everyone else seemed to beg to differ.) (She stopped after Mai-Choua told her that my bottom eyelashes are about as long as her top ones. I'm not trying to be vain!!!) Also, Destiny, a girl in my history class, who has never talked to me before and probably doesn't really know my name, came up to me and asked me if I was wearing makeup, and then told me it was pretty.
Later tonight, I was on Farmville (SHUT UP) and was 'harvesting' my animals. Now, I had an Ugly Duckling from Myles, and I didn't really like it very much because it was no use. But today, Farmville said it was ready to be 'Transformed'. When I transformed it, it became a beautiful swan. Now, I don't know how this changed anything, but now I'm rather glad I have it. And it hasn't done anything special. It just turned from an ugly duckling into a swan. It's still just taking up space on my farm, and it would probably be more use if I just sold it right now.

I'm guessing you all already know what I'm about to say, and I'm sure as soon as I say it, you will just stop reading from sheer boredom. But, here goes: we tend to favor Beautiful people/objects over the Normal, or even Ugly people/objects. I'm not going to recite the 'ugly people can be kinder' thing, because that's also setting up a bias that all pretty people are bitches and all ugly people are secretly fascinating saints. (I'm not saying that no pretty people are bitches, because they very well can be, or that ugly people can't be interesting and kind, either.)
But the overall point of this post is this: I tend to think of myself as someone who doesn't judge. Perhaps I'm over-idealizing, but I honestly did think that. I also didn't expect Lauren to become all bitchy just because I was getting more attention for the duration of 15 minutes or so. Friends really should not do that. (And get 'em, MC!!!) So what I'm saying is, don't be vain, and don't judge. And none of us are perfect. But...honestly? My opinion of that Duckling/Swan legitly completely turned around. And that doesn't compliment me much as a person.

About the question of the week...erm...yeah. Nobody answered it. I honestly have no clue what I was expecting, and I don't really know what I would rename the ringtoe either. It was a really dumb question. I'm sorry. And I know it wasn't really a question either! So I hope that maybe I'll get better responses for this one: If you were a cannibal, what would you wear to dinner?
